The 8th ceremony of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneva (GPHG) took place in Geneva on Wednesday 17 November at the Theater du Léman. An international jury of experts, collectors and journalists awarded Ulysse Nardin with the Sports Watch Award for her Marine Regatta.

Il Marine Regatta he had already been talked about at the beginning of the year, and we of Perpetual Passion we already had it there presented, following his last debut SIHH 2017 of Geneva.

It is an honor for the whole Manufacture to receive this coveted award. The Marine Regatta is the result of many months of development, this new caliber UN-155 is characterized by performance, ease of use and a display perfectly designed to ensure excellent readability - he said. Patrick Pruniaux, new CEO of the Maison of Le Locle.

Prepare for a good start. This is exactly the purpose of this incredible racing chronograph - with a patent that proves it - equipped with a countdown timer which can be adjusted from 1 to 10 minutes. The bidirectional second hand, at the end of the countdown, starts moving clockwise and starts timing the race time. The Marine Regatta was created and used by Artemis Racing Team during the last America’s Cup held earlier this year.

The Marine Regatta was the official watch on the wrist of the Artemis crew during the last American's Cup

Like racing boats they study in advance the waters where they will have to sail, the winds and the effects of the currents, the kinematics have been carefully designed in advance to ensure precision and reliability. By combining complex functions, this sophisticated mechanism has a inverter which allows the second hand central to turn in both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) to measure the countdown and then the race time without requiring user intervention after the countdown has been activated.

The large power reserve of 3 days, the bidirectional second hand that can be stopped to adjust the time and the date change both forwards and backwards complete its remarkable practicality.

With its distinctive appearance, the timepiece Marine Regatta recalls the nautical roots of the company. Its mighty 44 mm diameter steel case, water resistant to 100 meters, is finished with a fluted bezel with rubber inserts, screw-down crown and two rubber-coated pushers.

The faceted lugs adapt perfectly to the rubber strap with titanium inserts and folding clasp. Returning to the dial, two variants are proposed: the first in an ocean blue with touches of yellow, signature of Artemis Racing, and the second in the vivid color of sea foam.
