With theAltiplano Ultimate Concept, Piaget introduces himself to Geneva Haute Horlogerie Show (SIHH) creating once again a timepiece capable of overcoming the limits imposed by mechanical tolerances.

In this, moreover, the maison of La Côte aux Fees, she has been a teacher of it since the time of the creation of the historian Caliber 9P in 1957. Sixty years later, Piaget set a new record with the thinnest hand-wound watch in the world with a thickness of only 2mm.

The design of this micromechanical masterpiece required a great deal of collaboration between the different areas of experts present in the Piaget manufacture. The realization of theAltiplano Ultimate Concept lasted about 4 years, during which designers and engineers worked in unison to reduce the thickness as much as possible, without sacrificing mechanical precision and - last but not least - the aesthetic impact.

The result led to the use of a new high-tech material in cobalt and aluminum, which made it possible to combine solidity and thinness to conquer every single tenth of a millimeter.

A challenge that led Piaget to deposit 5 patents.

L'regulating body (balance-spiral) has been completely redesigned: the construction of the balance wheel is in one piece, without the traditional anti-shock system and the balance wheel axis, while the balance is positioned below the handwheel.  Il ultra thin barrel it has no axis and cover, it is the rochet itself that performs this function.

Furthermore, the crown telescopic is perfectly integrated into the cash register, allowing the creation of a flat-shaped middle case and protecting it from any impacts to which a normal circular crown is exposed.

The Altiplano Ultimate Concept is a timepiece that also fascinates for its elegance, despite the 'compromises' necessary for its realization. The finishes of each individual component are meticulously cared for, being a timepiece 'openview'.

Piaget's continuous challenge in the creation of ultra-thin watches, which he has been carrying out for more than half a century, has allowed us to open new horizons in terms of micro-mechanics and to create 'dream' watches to the delight of us enthusiasts.
