[: En]On the occasion of SIHH2018 the auction house Phillips - in association with Bacs & Russo - and Wilhelm Schmid, announced the auctioning of the exclusive unique piece A. Lange & Söhne 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” in steel.

This masterpiece from the house of Glassworks will be beaten during the review "The Geneva Watch Auction: SEVEN”, Which will be held on the weekend between 12 and 13 May in Geneva. The proceeds will be entirely donated to the association Children Auction Foundation.

Made in a single copy, the "Homage to Walter Lange”Perfectly embodies the maison's savoir faire. The black enamel dial, the refined design in its essentiality and embellished by the complication of the jumping seconds. Complication that has a particular affinity with Walter Lange, being the result of the genius of  Ferdinand Adolf Lange in 1867.

The jumping seconds are controlled by the named principle 'flirt-and-star' obtained thanks to an additional wheel, positioned at the balance wheel, characterized by a particular spring.

At the end of each second, one of the five teeth of the 'star' wheel releases the second wheel from the tension exerted by the spring. The wheel will rotate 360 degrees, releasing the accumulated energy and generating the effect of the so-called 'jumping seconds'. This particular wheel has a dual function: to store the energy needed for the jumping seconds and at the same time stop the seconds wheel.

“For us it is about following the wishes of Walter Lange. Throughout his life, the well-being of the neediest young people was very close to his heart. Personally, I was won over by the fact that Children Action collaborates exclusively with expert doctors and guarantees an efficient allocation of the resources entrusted to them ". Wilhelm Schmid, CEO Lange
