And here we are finally after long months of silence talking to you about the 'reborn' Breitling. To tell the truth, the Grenchen house never left us, but it is undeniable that many of us following the acquisition by CVC and the new CEO George Ken have wondered in which direction the aviators' favorite brand would turn.

In our article "Will George Kern take Breitling into a new era?”We told you about Mr. Kern and his great research work, meeting with fans of the brand, aimed at restoring the identity 'lost', or little valued, over time to Breitling watches. A journey that lasted months but which has finally borne fruit.

A BRIDGE BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE

2018 for Breitling begins in a new guise by launching the collection Navitimer 8.

8 is a clear reference to Huit Aviation Department, born in 1938 to produce on-board instrumentation and aviation watches for civilian and military pilots. Willy Breitling he chose the French name 'Eight'(eight), as a reference for instruments with an eight-day power reserve.

“With the Navitimer 8 collection, we don't just want to honor Breitling's history but also our role as pioneers in making chronographs. In paying homage to our past, at the same time Navitimer 8 opens the doors to a truly exciting future " enthused George Kern

NAVITIMER 8 - B01, Unitime, Chronograph, Day & Date, Automatic

I five new Navitimer 8 models were created by the creative director Guy Bove after a full immersion among the models ofHuit Aviation Department. The new timepieces follow the design of the on-board watches - especially in terms of bezel and dial - as well as the iconic Breitling 768, with the rotating bezel featuring the characteristic triangle that made it famous among pilots.

This type of bezel was in fact an indispensable element in the days of the first aviator's watches with and without a chronograph. By placing the triangle before or after the hands, the pilot could easily measure small intervals of time.

I small triangles placed every five minutes along the minute scale on the outside of the dial, they also represent in this case a tribute to the first Breitling wristwatches. The beveled hands give the Navitimer 8 a sophisticated and luminous look to the dial.

The case is characterized by the alternation between glossy finishes and those satin of the loops, combining sportiness and elegance. The dial with soleil processing, guarantees immediate readability thanks to the large Arabic numerals in SuperLuminova. Each Navitimer 8 is waterproof up to 100 meters. The sapphire crystal is in sapphire with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

Stay tuned to find out more about every single Navitimer 8 reference.
