The prestigious auction house Phillps in association with Bacs & Russo never ceases to amaze. After giving away a decidedly exciting 2017 for collectors and enthusiasts, thanks to record auctions of the rarest and most sought-after watches in the world, for this 2018 Phillips has recently announced its participation in the exhibition "Watchmakers: The Masters of Art Horology" organized by "Maxima Gallery " which will take place at the MAXXI in Rome.
The exhibition will feature the exceptional watches created by the most important independent watchmakers: Philippe Dufour, Hajime Asaoka, Christophe Claret, Ludovic Ballouard, De Bethune, Laurent Ferrier, Romain Gauthier, Vianney Halter, Christian Klings, Jean-Daniel Nicolas, Roger W. Smith and Kari Voutilainen.
The occasion will also allow you to admire theGeorge Daniel's “Anniversary Watch No. 1”, considered by many to be the father of contemporary independent watchmaking. Indeed, his work has influenced many modern-day master watchmakers.
The art gallery "Maxima Gallery ", specializing in modern and contemporary art, is led by Claudio Proietti : collector and enthusiast of independent watchmaking. Claudio conceived "Watchmakers: The Masters of Art Horology”As an opportunity to create an exhibition capable of turning the spotlight on master watchmakers, true contemporary artists specialized in the study of watchmaking.
With this interesting initiative Phillips intends to concretely support independent master watchmakers to safeguard their precious expertise, for the benefit of the entire world of watchmaking. Many of their timepieces have already been the protagonists of past auctions, attracting considerable collector interest.
Conceived as an international exhibition "Watchmakers: The Masters of Art HorologyWill make its debut at the MAXXI in Rome from 6 to 15 April, before flying to New York, Hong Kong and London.
