Starting April 6, art lovers, collectors and all those interested in beautiful watches are invited to Rome to see a magnificent selection of watches by Hajime Asaoka, Christophe Claret, Ludovic Ballouard, De Bethune, Philippe Dufour , Laurent Ferrier, Romain Gauthier, Vianney Halter, Christian Klings, Jean-Daniel Nicolas, Roger W. Smith and Kari Voutilainen.
From his last watch "Anniversary", the late George Daniels will also be represented, whom many of today's makers consider the father of modern independent watchmaking. Almost all 13 watchmakers involved will be present at the various stages of the exhibition, which begins in Rome, before moving to New York, Hong Kong and London.
The exhibition staged by Maxima Gallery with Phillips in collaboration with Bacs & Russo, was born from an idea of Claudio Proietti, watch collector, art dealer and owner of the Maxima Gallery and will be dedicated, as already mentioned, to 13 of the best independent watchmakers today.
With the first episode scheduled for MAXXI (National Museum of XXI Century Arts), a complex of Zaha Hadid in Rome, the exhibition intends to tell the story of each of the watchmakers and explain what they do. Each of the watchmakers will be accompanied by their creations, which include some unique pieces notable, including a Philippe Dufour "Simplicity" in white gold with a cassette finish and gray dial. Roger W. Smith will present the "Great Britain Series 2", built in 2014 for a UK government tourism campaign.
From the words of Claudio Proietti: "I can't believe that all these artists are capable of such extraordinary craftsmanship and so few buyers and collectors in the art world know ...", museums and galleries, places where art is traditionally presented, thus become the locations for the work of thirteen independent watchmakers.
Il catalog finally, the exhibition has been designed as a coffee table book and will include essays by prominent personality like Aurel Bacs e Kari Voutilainen, and also On Jiaxian, founder of SJX.
The program of the exhibition will be as follows:
ROMA from 6 to 15 April - MAXXI, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts
NEW YORK April 26-30 - Phillips, 450 Park Avenue
HONG KONG May 24 to May 29 - Mandarin Oriental, Central
