Just a year ago Zenith amazed the world of watchmaking by presenting the DEFY Lab, an archetypal model regulated by a revolutionary oscillator developed and patented by the LeLocle maison and distributed in a limited edition of 10 pieces. Just 12 months later, Zenith arrived at the Basel World Watch Show with the DEFY Inventor, effectively overcoming the laboratory phase with a series production.
Like the DEFY Lab, the Inventor model combines superlative technical performance and avant-garde aesthetics, characterized by the use of innovative materials.
The DEFY Inventor owes its high performance - 18 Hz, compared to the usual 4Hz - to a revolutionary technology: the Zenith oscillator. This adjustment system, which actually surpasses the traditional balance-spiral system, offers a series of advantages in terms of reliability and precision.
This ultra-thin element (0,5 mm) replaces the approximately thirty components of a standard adjustment system, thus eliminating the problems of contact, friction, wear and deformation; secondly, it is insensitive to magnetic fields and temperature variations as it is made of monocrystalline silicon. In addition, the escape wheel is made up of flexible blades, a first in the watch industry.
The 44mm diameter case in lightweight titanium and textured bezel in Aeronith - an innovative aluminum-based composite material - is enhanced by the futuristic design of the skeletonized dial in the shape of a stylized helix, whose five "blades" recall the polar star symbol of Zenith. .
Visibility of the time is quick thanks to the large hour and minute hands faceted and coated with Super-LumiNova®, while a thin central hand topped by a star indicates the seconds. The time setting is made precise thanks to the stop-seconds system.
For a final touch of futuristic sophistication, the iconic DEFY Inventor is secured to the wrist by a black rubber strap with midnight blue alligator coating.
The DEFY Inventor will go on sale at a price of 17.600 Euros
