Longines pays homage to its rich past by taking inspiration from a 40s watch to make The Longines Heritage Military.

Proud to celebrate its history and past successes, the brand enriches the Heritage collection with the reissue of a 1940 military model inspired by a watch created for members of the Royal Air Force (RAF), the Army Air Forces British. Stanley Turner, a highly decorated radio operator aboard RAF aircraft during World War II, wore this model on his wrist. And his watch, found and made available to the Swiss brand by a young English collector, inspired today's proposal. Longines is celebrating the RAF's XNUMXth anniversary in its own way.

Faithful to the lines of the original specimen (photo below), designed for the Royal Air Forces of the British Army, this essential design reinterpretation fits into the timeless style that made the winged hourglass brand so successful.

With its sober design and a diameter of 38,50 mm, The Longines Heritage Military respects the essential aesthetics and spirit of the vintage specimen, which then sported a 32,50 mm case. The oversized knurled crown is a reminder that the original watch needed to be handled with ease.

The Longines Heritage Military features a silvery opaline dial on which delicate droplets of black paint are pulverized. This new procedure for Longines, handmade, makes each piece a unique piece and aims to reproduce the oxidation present on the original model. To preserve the spirit of the 40s, the timepiece becomes the only example of the current Longines collections to host an automatic movement without the wording “Automatic” on the dial.

Always with the intent to remain faithful to the watch of Stanley Turner and his colleagues at the RAF, The Longines Heritage Military exhibits a fully polished curved bezel and a sapphire “box” crystal. The steel case that protects the automatic movement L888.2 (comfortable power reserve of 64 hours and a frequency of 25.200 vibrations per hour), it is combined with the aged green leather strap or the nato strap of the same color. The watch is supplied with both versions of the strap and with the tool necessary for its replacement, all kept in a box specially created for the occasion, at a price of EURO 1.860.
