Dolce & Gabbana maison founded in 1985, has always shown interest and experience in the sale of watches. During the Baselworld 2017, the brand D & G made its debut in the world of fine watchmaking by presenting exclusive one-off pieces (pictured below), including complications such as a tourbillon or minute repeater. Today, two years later, the brand's latest move to increase its interest in watchmaking was the development of a proprietary movement.

This new proprietary Dolce & Gabbana movement was developed and manufactured by MHC, Manufacture of High Complications, who had already collaborated with the brand in 2017 when the unique pieces of D & G Haute Horlogerie.

Geneva-based MHC is a high-end movement designer and manufacturer run by Pierre Favre who has already worked on projects for Girard-Perregaux, H. Moser & Cie., Bell & Ross e Graff.

The new caliber Dolce & Gabbana DG01Consisting of 209 parts, it is a large self-winding movement with a micro-rotor with a diameter of 30,00 mm and a height of 4,00 mm. It works at 21.600 vibrations per hour and guarantees up to 58 hours of power reserve.

For now, only two versions are available (photo below): DG01.01 with hours, minutes and small seconds at 6 o'clock DG01.02 with hours (on 24 hours and not 12, the so-called Hora Italica) and minutes.

For the launch of this new movement, Dolce & Gabbana has unveiled a new line of watches, "Italian Manufacture", which will be offered in six different models inspired by Italian cities: Venice, Milan, Palermo, Florence, Naples and Rome.

Their design will be purely Italian and faithful to the opulent D&G style, while the finish of the movement will be clean and sober. Each watch will be released in an exclusive limited edition of 13 watches. Prices will start from around 39.500 EURO.
