Registrations are open for the nineteenth edition of Grand Prix d'Horologerie de Genève (GPH extension 2019).

With the new members of the jury and the new categories, the GPH extension will collect applications until June 21, 2019, to elect in November in a sparkling event staged in Théâtre du Léman a Geneva, the best timepieces in the watch industry. A real night of Oscar for watch manufacturers, therefore, whose first edition took place in 2001 and, year after year, earning the reputation of the most prestigious award ceremony in the watch industry.

As announced above, the 2019 GPHG edition introduces two new categories in the prize list: the"Iconic Watch Prize" which will go to the best watch in an emblematic collection that has had a lasting influence on the history of watchmaking and the watch market for over 25 years and the "Diver's Watch Prize". Two new additions that will enrich the list of prizes for a total of 19 categories.

The highest award is the "Aiguille d'Or", which awards the best overall watch among all categories, last year, went to Bovet for his masterpiece, the clock Récital 22 Grand Récital (photo below).

The GPHG is not only dedicated to the big brands already consolidated, among the categories, in fact, the Audacity Award, celebrates the work of the most nonconformist watchmakers and, the award Horological Revelation sheds light on young brands and young talents with less than ten years of existence.

The panel of jury members is made up of representatives of the watch industry: journalists, collectors, experts, and many others, but about a quarter of its members are renewed every year.

An interesting clause in the section Regole of the GPHG states that the brand that wins the “Aiguille d'Or Grand Prix” is automatically ineligible for the competition the following year, and its founder or CEO will be a member of the jury in the following edition.

GPHG 2019 welcomes requests from all Swiss or international watch brands. The list of preselected watches by the jury will be announced on 2 September, watches which, as always happened in previous years, will be taken on tour to different destinations around the world.
