Last May 3rd, Panerai, the well-known Florentine brand of high-end sports watches, has opened its first boutique in Roma at number 130 of the renowned Way of the Baboon, in the heart of the capital.

The official inauguration of the boutique will take place on 11 June, the day on which collectors and enthusiasts of the brand will be "welcomed" among others by Jean-Marc Pontroue, CEO of Panerai, who stated as follows regarding the new opening:

“We are very proud to inaugurate a new boutique in Rome. In addition to being the country of origin of the brand, Italy is Panerai's first European market. To celebrate the inauguration, we presented a special edition of the iconic Luminor Marina, dedicated to collectors in Rome. "

The opening night will end at “La Lanterna di Fuksas” where the envoys will celebrate the event with a real dinner party.

For the occasion, Panerai presented a special edition of the Luminor Marina, the most iconic watch of the brand which will be produced in a limited edition of only 130 pieces, like the house number of the boutique. In addition, the timepiece displays other details inspired by the Eternal City, the engraving on the back of Spanish Steps and the staircase leading to the church of Trinità dei Monti and the strap with red and yellow stitching, inspired by the colors of the city coat of arms.

We went to visit the boutique and try on this wonderful timepiece, greeted by the very efficient staff and manager Mauro Columbus.

The new Panerai boutique has an area of 50 m2 and four windows overlooking one of the most exclusive streets in the city.

The materials used inside are Tuscan marble "Shiny Calacatta", burnished brass, bronze, oak wood and the special corrugated and transparent ribbed glass, all clear references to the world of the sea and the glorious past of the brand, which has its roots in the history of Marina Militare Italian.

Many of the decorative elements of the boutique evoke the survival tools made by Panerai for the Italian raiders active from the 30s to the 50s

The new Luminor Marina presented for the occasion is, from a technical point of view, like all the timepieces of the brand, a concentrate of high sports watchmaking, the result of the ingenuity of the Panerai Laboratory of Ideas.

The 44mm diameter case is made of stainless steel AISI 316L and has a satin finish, as does the device that protects the winding crown from accidental impacts and which helps ensure the water resistance of the watch up to 30 bar, approximately 300 meters.

The polished bezel frames a classic Panerai black dial with sandwich structure and satinèe soleil finish, on which the large luminescent indexes are perfectly legible, even in absent or poor light conditions.

The date window is located at 3 o'clock and the small seconds counter typical of every Luminor Marina is in the classic 9 o'clock position.

Inside beats the sporty heart of the automatic movement caliber P.9010 with bidirectional oscillating weight, entirely made in the Panerai manufacture of Neuchâtel, which guarantees a power reserve of 3 days (72 hours).

On the wrist the watch is attractive and the details are well done, but above all, demonstrating its sporty nature, it is very comfortable. Also available in the box is a second strap entirely in black rubber. Price 7.900 EURO
