Following the success achieved last year with the launch of the collection Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris al Geneva International Haute Horlogerie Exhibition, the Grande Maison expands the line Polaris with a new special creation: the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date limited edition. Produced in a limited series of 800 pieces, the new one Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date combines the Manufacture's mastery of fine watchmaking with contemporary proportions, vintage design motifs and some important aesthetic variations.

Inspired by the 1970 Polaris II (pictured below), the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date features a new hand-lacquered dial with two-tone shades of blue with soleil, grained and opaline finishes created exclusively for this special model. The central disc and main dial both sport a shimmering and iridescent effect, ranging from deep turquoise to a brilliant shade of royal blue. The blue rubber strap with Clous de Paris motif, also made exclusively for this model, perfectly matches the color of the inner bezel, which, like in the original Memovox Polaris and Polaris II, rotates offering greater functionality.

In keeping with the unmistakable look of the Polaris collection, the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date it is immediately recognizable thanks to its elongated Arabic numerals, trapezoidal hour markers and baton hands. These elements are all treated with Super-LumiNova ™ to offer maximum readability even in poor visibility conditions. For this application, the luminescent coating is cream colored, a further homage to the famous Polaris watches of the 60s and 70s.

However, the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date is a predominantly modern creation. Made of stainless steel, the case is 42mm in diameter and features two prominent crowns: one to adjust the time, the other to control the rotating bezel mentioned above. The graceful aesthetic of the case, which sports brushed and hand-polished surfaces, actually conceals genuine sporting qualities, as the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date is water resistant to 200 meters.

Inside, the self-winding mechanical movement offers all the precision and craftsmanship characteristic of Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre. Caliber 899A / 1 The Manufacture accurately counts the seconds, minutes, hours and date (which appears through a dedicated window located at 3 o'clock) and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. The caliber is secured by a hermetically sealed caseback, which bears four special engravings: the symbol SCUBA of scuba diving, the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre crest and the words "1000 HOURS CONTROL”, Which shows that the assembled watch underwent 1.000 hours of testing before leaving the Manufacture of Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. Finally, near the outer edge is the wording "Limited edition - One of 800".

Il Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris Date is the latest addition to the Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris collection, inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris model (pictured below). This historic model was created on the proposal of the American market and was produced between 1965 and 1968.

Today, the memovox original is still synonymous with adventure and technical innovation, introducing a revolutionary amplified underwater bell function, designed for divers. The watch is also remembered for its elegant and sophisticated design codes: dial with concentric finishes on three rings, internal rotating bezel and case with double crown. The new Jaeger ‑ LeCoultre Polaris collection pays homage to the original model by re-proposing these visual elements, but has been entirely reworked in a more contemporary version, which features shorter lugs, a thinner bezel, ergonomic crowns and a raised "glass box" sapphire crystal. . Price 8.450 euros.
