Il Graduate di Girard-Perregaux, which debuted in 1975 and was revamped and reintroduced to market in 2016, kicked off the series Absolute graduate, sportier and avant-garde version, in 2019. Most of the releases of this new family sported a combination of colors, as in the model Absolute Rock (photo below) recently released, up to the version just presented, the Absolute Passion graduate, a limited edition of only 50, introducing a red inspired by the racing world.
Il Girard-Perregaux Laureate Absolute Passion has a black PVD case with red details and was presented at the Paris International Automobile Festival, for which Girard-Perregaux is an official partner.
The faceted case with its complex octagonal bezel measures 44mm in diameter and is constructed of lightweight titanium treated with PVD black. It offers 300 meters of water resistance - a figure much more commonly found in pro-grade diving watches than running chronographs - and is by far the most robust model in the young collection. Absolute presented so far. The red highlights of the black dial are found on the sub dials at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, on the indexes and on the central seconds hand.
On display behind a sapphire crystal in the screwed caseback beats the caliber GP03300-1058 di Girard-Perregaux, a self-winding mechanical movement embellished with a series of haute horlogerie finishes, including five styles on the barrel bridge alone - engraving, cotes de Geneve, bevel, mirror polish and circular grain. Composed of 419 total components including 63 jewels, it beats at 28.800 VPH, and is capable of guaranteeing a power reserve.
The 14.65 mm thick case integrates perfectly with the strap made of two-tone rubber, with a red fabric insert and red stitching applied on a soft black base. Its comfort is guaranteed by the folding buckle, made of black PVD-treated titanium which perfectly matches the case and which boasts a micro-adjustment system. This limited edition of 50 pieces will be priced at around 13.400 EURO.
