At the beginning of 2019 Audemars Piguet amazed the entire watch industry by presenting the much discussed Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet. With this model he wanted to embark on a new chapter in its history, a chapter that departs from the Royal Oak to offer customers watches that are completely different from what is present in the collection. Continuing this philosophy, we can finally reveal the latest addition to the Audemars Piguet house, here is the [Re] Master01 reference 26595SR

If the Code 11.59 was a brand new and completely new model, with the new one [Re] Master01 Audemars Piguet wanted to look to the past, in its centuries-old history, to reinterpret and update the pre-model 1533 (1943) produced in only 3 specimens, one of its iconic chronographs.

Between the 30s and 50s only 307 chronographs they were produced by the company of Le Brassus and each of them was treated as a unique specimen. The pre-model 1533, in particular, with its 36mm diameter (definitely oversized for the time) and the use of two materials (steel and rose gold) for the case and bezel, had a decidedly contemporary look. which was unanimously selected by the project team as the first watch to be updated in a modern key present in its Heritage.

The [Re] Master01 26595SR it's a Flyback Chronograph with round steel case from 40 mm with rose gold bezel and pushers. The caseback, as well as the main glass, is made of sapphire crystal to be able to admire the 4409 in-house movement (4Hz, 70h power reserve) self-winding with 22-karat rose gold oscillating weight decorated with the Clous de Paris motif, typical of Audemars Piguet. The selected caliber has the column wheel for sorting the chronograph and occupies very well the space that the case provides, avoiding the occurrence of the “donut” effect (ie a very large case with a small caliber). The beating heart of the watch, therefore, is the latest chronograph movement born in the AP case and already mounted on the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet (with the only difference that there is no date in this case).

The 22-karat rose gold oscillating weight is satin-finished and decorated with "Clous de Paris."

The watch has a strong vintage flavor and is incredibly similar to the original model, but you can clearly feel the refinement and cleaning work that has been done on the materials, on many details of the dial, case and lugs. In particular, we can see that the champagne dial has the counters hollowed out and the chronograph functions have been reorganized. Now we find at 3-6-9 o'clock respectively: the chronograph hours counter, the movement seconds and the chronograph minutes counter.

In order to maintain the strong link with the past, some important details of the dial have been re-proposed, namely the signature "Audemars, Piguet & C. Genève”Below 12 o'clock, which has been in use since the early twentieth century, and the indication 4 | 5 red in the minute counter to be able to time an event lasting 45 ', such as a football match that Jacques-Louis Audemars was passionate about.

The new Audemars Piguet [Re] Master01 is yet another representation of the versatility of the Le Brassus brand and its ability to offer a decidedly wide range of watches ranging from vintage to futuristic watches. This watch will be produced in only 500 specimens and will be sold at the price of 54'800 €. We will meet on these pages for the wrist test when the restrictions due to COVID-19 are over.
