It is always fascinating to admire the watch on the wrist of important personalities. The watch tells a lot about us and who wears it. Certainly, without going on the character and personal aspects of the owner, he could tell us if we have in front of us a simple person with a more or less important watch on his wrist, or a enthusiast. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, is our "old" knowledge of watches.
Since his inauguration we had spotted him wearing a IWC Portofino, subsequently an elegant Cartier Tank Americaine in yellow gold and now a legendary vintage eberhard house, we're talking about theExtra-Fort in yellow gold with dauphine hands, reference 14007.
The Eberhard Extra-Fort, which owes its name to its robust case, was born at the end in 1947, in the immediate post-war period, and then became the flagship collection of the maison with different versions of movement in the 50s and 60s, up to the present day.
Founded in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, by Georges Eberhard, Eberhard became famous for its wrist chronographs as early as 1919, thanks to the launch of the first wrist chronograph.
The Extra-Fort is equipped with two buttons, but in reality it is a single-button chronograph with the possibility of measuring intermediate times. The top button starts, stops, and restores the chronograph while the button less than 4 o'a.m. instead functions as a controlled "stop and lock" mechanism by simply sliding it towards the crown. Blocking prevents chronograph buttons from being accidentally activated. The in-house manual caliber is the EB 14000.
After two recently produced watches, President Conte wears a vintage watch that is decidedly iconic and important in the history of watchmaking. This shows that, in the field of watches and net of any political assessment, Giuseppe Conte certainly has good taste and is – in some way – one of us.
