And here we are finally, a few minutes ago ROLEX presented a brand new undated Submariner, reference 124060 and the new 126610 LN and LV. What difference do these new models make compared to the previous reference? As expected, it has a lightly redesigned case (41 mm) – in the wake of the latest GMT-MasterII – and is equipped with the new in-house calibers.
This year the Rolex Submariner has extinguished 67 candles. Three years after the 70th anniversary, the crowned maison has introduced not only the classic LN (black bezel), but that a new "green ring" (LV), with the reference 126610LV, in step with the new Rolex standards in terms of precision and design. Let's find out together.
The redesigned case with thinner lanthes is 41mm and no more than 40mm. As per tradition, the Oystersteel 904L steel Oyster case guarantees a water resistance of 300 meters (1,000 feet). The grooved caseback is hermetically screwed with a special exclusive tool of Rolex watchmakers.
The charging crown, equipped with the patented TRIPLOCK triple waterproofing system, screws firmly against the case in a manner similar to a submarine hatch. It is protected by a crown guard who is an integral part of the central case.
The Submariner and Submariner Date feature the Chromalight-indexed dial: the hands and hour indices are coated or filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions. On the bezel, the triangular zero indicator is visible even in the dark thanks to a capsule containing the same luminescent material.
New compared to the previous reference is the introduction of the new caliber 3230 – introduced specifically with the new reference 124060 – and the 3235, which replace two historical and reliable calibers such as the 3130 and the 3135.
What differentiates these calibers? In the first place, thepower reserve, which went from 48 to70 hours, while the precision parameters (-2.+2 sec/d) have been redefined with even lower tolerances, thanks mainly to the newChronergy escapementwhich guarantees 15% more energy efficiency.
Like the 2010 Submariner and the new Gmt-Master II, the new undated Sub has a Cerachom bezel, which is practically scratch-proof and completely resistant to fading and corrosion. The graduations in the bezel are actually PVD coated with platinum, and the dial and hands are filled with Chromalight.
Among the steel models stands out, of course, the Green ring of the reference 126610LV that combined with the black dial recalls the iconic reference 16610LV made for the 50th anniversary.
The bracelet of this SUBMARINER is equipped with an OYSTER bracelet with massive 904L steel meshes. It features a next-generation OYSTERLOCK safety buckle and glidelock extension system. The patented system, located under the buckle cover, allows fine adjustments of the length of the bracelet in increments of 2 mm for a total of about 20 mm – without using any tools. This allows you to wear the watch on a diving wetsuit up to 3 mm thick and offers additional comfort under any circumstances.
The new SUBMARINER 124060 and 126610LN and LV use the new Rolex 3230 and 3235 calibers equipped with Chronergy exhaust, parachrome spiral and 72-hour power reserve. The price to the public is equal to 7’750 € for 124060, 8’750 € for 126610LN and 9.150€ for the 126610LV.
