Oris is proving to be one of the most prolific watch brands in terms of novelty during this complicated year. Despite the cancellation of the Reno Air Races, Oris nevertheless presented the new one  Reno Air Races Limited Edition dedicated to the fifty-seventh edition of the competition, a model Big Crown ProPilot gray PVD coated, time with GMT functionality and date indicator.

Oris has been associated with the world of aviation practically since the birth of the brand. The company's first pilot pocket watch appeared in the early 10s, followed by a pilot's wristwatch in 1917 and the pilot's watch Big crown of 1938 with its distinctive large crown designed for pilots who wore gloves. The collection Big Crown ProPilot it is an offshoot of the historical model and offers aviator's watches in a more contemporary key. As one of Oris' key collections, it was only natural that the Big Crown was chosen to represent the brand's partnership with the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada.

In 2018, Oris became the official watch sponsor for the 55th edition of the Reno Air Races epst the Reno Air Races 2020 - albeit canceled and postponed to 2021 - Oris proposes a Big Crown ProPilot with GMT functions and circular date, limited to just 1.000 pieces.

The multi-piece stainless steel case has a brushed gray PVD coating and measures 41mm, smaller than all the aforementioned pieces, but equipped with the family's signature oversized crown and fluted bezel Big Crown ProPilot. To ensure its 100m water resistance, the crown and case back are screwed down. The matte black dial features touches of white and blue, very much in line with the all-important legibility factor of a pilot's watch. The GMT function is transmitted around the perimeter of the dial on a 24-hour scale highlighted in white on the black background. The shape of the blue hand for the GMT function is designed to resemble a jet, the only reference on the dial at Reno Air Races

The pointer's distinctive date mark is present in the center of the dial, and the small blue triangular date indicator is positioned in a cutout area below the dial level. The large Arabic hour numerals and hands are highlighted with Super-LumiNova BGW9 which emits a blue-green glow in the dark. Additional touches of blue can be found on the tip of the center seconds hand and the GMT lettering inside the date hand.

Equipped with an automatic movement based on a Sellita SW330-1, Caliber Oris 798 It operates at a frequency of 28.800 Vph and provides a 42 hour power reserve. The sealed caseback is engraved with special engravings commemorating the 57th edition of the Reno Air Races and the limited edition number xxxx / 1000. THEOris 57th Reno Air Races Limited Edition it is complemented by a black textile strap with blue leather lining and is secured to the wrist with a gray PVD coated steel folding buckle. The watch is limited to 1.000 pieces and comes in a special presentation box. Available at the price of CHF 2650.
