Tudor celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its first chronograph watches and, in honor of that occasion, relaunches the chronograph Black Bay featuring a reverse panda or panda dial with other subtle changes, mainly on the bezel.

Since the chronograph Tudor Oysterdate was introduced in 1970, the sports chronograph was important to the brand and the Black Bay collection is testament to this, as it satisfies many aficionados for design and price. No wonder, then, that new variations of the famous vintage-inspired Black Bay are released every year. Following the original concept with a black dial, red bezel and ETA movements, there have been many iterations and evolutions. The in-house movements, for example, or the slightly reduced BB58 collection and, of course, the chronograph Black Bay.

First introduced as an all-steel version, including bezel, with a black dial and black sub-dials, the Black Bay Chrono has been updated several times. A steel version with black PVD treatment, a steel and gold model and now, finally, a version with the Panda dial. All new domed dials for the Black Bay Chrono are available in matte black or opal white, with two contrasting recessed sub-subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock and a date indication at 6 o'clock. Snowflake, a distinctive Tudor feature first introduced in 1969, are as ever present to complement the timepiece's legibility.

The 41 mm wide steel case has satin and polished surfaces. The fixed steel bezel has a black anodized aluminum insert with a tachymeter scale. The chronograph is operated with screw pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, with the screw crown in the middle. Under the elegant case and under the dial beats the caliber MT5813, an in-house chronograph movement, derived from the in-house chronograph caliber Breitling B01. Its construction includes a silicon balance spring and a column wheel with vertical clutch. The power reserve is 70 hours.

Il Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Panda”, as it will probably be called, will be equipped with three possible straps: a black jacquard fabric strap, a black bund-style leather strap or the riveted steel bracelet introduced several years ago. Prices vary from 4.660 EURO for fabric or leather straps a 4.960 EURO for the version with steel bracelet.
