On the occasion of the “Only Watch” charity auction, Audemars Piguet has created a new Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra Thin in a brand new and latest version of the famous reference, which will go out of production at the end of this year together with the Caliber 2121.

This unique specimen is a tribute to the first version of the Royal Oak “A Series” ref. 5402 in the aesthetic elements, declined with modern materials. The dial is characterized by the "Petite Tapisserie" motif with the Audemars Piguet writing of the same font and with the same AP logo used on the 5402 "A series", while the case and bracelets have been made of titanium and a new aluminum-palladium-based alloy. , the Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG), a new combination for Audemars Piguet.

Particularly used in the field of microelectronics, BMG is a material with high resistance and amorphisity due to its non-crystalline nature, peculiarities that make this alloy particularly resistant to wear and corrosion.

Audemars Piguet has designed the Royal Oak “Jumbo” 15202XT created for “Only Watch” in a brand new shade, with different shades of gray. The dial houses the classic white gold indexes applied and filled with luminescent material. At 12 o'clock we find the signature "Audemars Piguet" with the writing "Automatic" placed just below, while at 6 o'clock there is the applied monogram AP. The tone of the dial, as well as that of the date, blends with that of the case and bracelet.

The finishes of the Royal Oak “Only Watch” are also different from those adopted in the past. The BMG bezel is hand-polished on its outside, as are the solid part of the caseback and the connecting elements of the bracelet. The case is in sandblasted titanium with polished bevels, as is the bracelet sandblasted on the outside with the typical bevel on the sides and satin-finished internally. The caseback is visible and frames the legendary caliber 2121 thanks to the sapphire crystal, while the outer part in Bulk Metallik Glass bears the engravings "Unique Piece" and "Pd500", an abbreviation that indicates the purity of 50% palladium.

The Royal Oak made for Only Watch is also the latest 15202 and is somehow a watershed between past and future. In fact, it will be the last example to be equipped with the automatic caliber 2121, an ultra-flat movement with a thickness of just 3.05mm based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 920, before the start of a new era of Royal Oak "Jumbo" which will begin in 2022 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak.
