Dear friends of Perpetual Passion, it is Christmas Eve. We spent the whole year reviewing, looking and craving new or vintage watches at the auctions we attended. These days of celebration bring us all a little bit like children. So we decided to draw up a wish list, with no budget limits, as well as imagination, which we want to share with you just to inspire you.
Merry Christmas to all, with the wish that your watchmaking wishes and more may come true.

Rolex Oyster Cosmograph 6265
- Matteo Bega, Founder

Traditionally, we know, the color of Christmas is gold. And it is also for this reason that in this year's wish list, I include this splendid Rolex Oyster Cosmograph ref. 6265. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not the typical "gold addicted" when it comes to watches, but when I got to wear and admire this splendid 6265 up close during the Phillips auction "The Geneva Watch Auction: XIII”, It was love right away. In this watch the splendor of yellow gold is combined with the discretion of the shapes - the case measures just 37mm - and the comfort of the riveted bracelet, which means that it can just emerge from the cuff of the shirt.

Reference 6265 was introduced to the market in 1969 and ceased production in 1987. Although the reference was primarily clad in stainless steel, limited quantities were also set in 18K or 14K yellow gold. Despite its nearly 2 decades of production, it is estimated that no more than 2000 specimens have been coated in gold.

At least at Christmas, it is still possible to dream ...

Breguet Tourbillon 3357 or Laurent Ferrier Micro Rotor Square
- Augusto Bassi, Editor-inChief

If they put a gun to my head and told me to choose what to take with me to a desert island, I would have no doubts: two Brazilian ice skaters and a Swedish jazz samba, but if I had an unlimited budget and could only choose two watches. to carry with me for the rest of my days, I would have lashing hesitations, which I have solved for you. As a formal watch, since the tourbillon beats us in the chest, I choose the Breguet 3357. At 35 millimeters in diameter, there are Abraham Louis and Daniel Roth spinning embraced in a rotating cage.

The watch. As for the every day dream watch, the embarrassment has, if possible, sharpened. A chronograph, I thought. But each choice would have given me more regret for the excluded than enjoyment for the chosen one. So I go only time in steel and I choose the Laurent Ferrier Micro Rotor Square with white dial. As beautiful as the best years of taste.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15202
- Andrea Frigerio, Senior Editor

Contrary to what one might expect from me, this year in Santa Claus I am not asking for a Richard Mille, whether simple or complicated, like the newly presented 35-03 or the mechanical devilry of 65-01. In fact, 2021 was the last year of production for the Audemars Piguet 15202 as we know it and will be replaced in 2022 by a new reference, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak but of which we still know nothing. The 15202 anniversary presented in 2012 is, for me, the most beautiful watch in the world and I like to say that it is “perfect in its imperfection”, given the particularity of its finishes, the perfection of the proportions and the caliber adopted.

Doxa by Synchron Aqualung Sub 300T Ref. 58098-59
- Vittorio Macchi, Editor

Christmas is well known, it is made of amazement and a pinch of magic. If I had to write a letter to send to the north pole, under the tree I would like the watch that fascinates me most in the world of vintage and divers, the Doxa 300t sharkhunter Aqualung. The professional diver par excellence, used by the father of diving Jacques Costeau and many other important explorers of the 60s.

A watch with a very particular design, born in 1964 on Lake Neauchatel with a case capable of reaching 1200 meters but at the same time versatile to wear over the wetsuit. Equipped with a double unidirectional bezel with external depth scale in orange and minute scale in black so as to let divers know how much air was left in their tanks. The dial is orange because of all the versions tested (red and yellow for example) it was the one with the greatest visibility underwater. At 8 o'clock there is the symbol of the Aqualung trademark deposited by Costeau for scuba diving. To complete the innovative design for the time, a rice grain bracelet, the first with an expandable clasp.

In short, Santa Claus we hope that sooner or later you will be able to grant my wish.

Rolex Explorer II 16570
- Pasquale Rinaldi, Editor & Video Maker

Probably, if I had to think about what to give myself for this Christmas, I would choose the Explorer 16570. A watch certainly very popular in recent years, one of the last professional Rolex watches under € 10.000 capable of giving that aspect that made Rolex great and which makes it eternal in terms of design and aesthetics. Many would choose the polar color, certainly more iconic and particular, but I prefer the versatility of Rolex's glossy black dials. In my opinion this is one of the most interesting Rolex on the market for a very simple aspect: the thin thickness and the steel bezel. Let's talk about the first aspect: a 40mm with these lateral proportions is difficult to find today, a watch that can have such a sporty look, but at the same time so sober and simple it is difficult to have, especially if we think of the post-ceramic Rolex. The reduced thickness of the GMT-Explorer2 five-digit cases, combined with that second factor, the finer and thinner fixed steel bezel, make it possible to wear this reference as an “everyday watch” today.

There would be many reasons to add to explain my choice, but the Christmas lunch already weighs you down so I want to be quick and concise: I like it because it has always been snubbed, because it also comes out of my classic Rolex canons and it is one of a kind. Rolex 16570, the ugly duckling on the rise.
