These days the world of watchmaking has transformed Geneva into its capital thanks to Geneva Watch Days. So the news of the 90 finalist timepieces of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) 2022 arrives on time.

The 650 GPHG Academy members, of which our founder is part of it, has selected 90 of the 254 entered in this year's competition, of which 84 and 6 clocks. Divided into 15 categories, these timepieces are vying to win one of 20 awards at this 22nd edition of the GPHG, including the prestigious “Aiguille d'Or” Grand Prix Best-in-show award.

The nominated watches will be exhibited in New Delhi on 8 and 9 October 2022, in collaboration with Ethos Watches. They will then settle in Casablanca, Morocco, from 20 to 23 October 2022, within the prestigious setting of Villa Roosevelt. The latter exhibition, the first for the GPHG on the African continent, is organized in collaboration with the Bank of Africa. Back in Geneva, the 90 nominated timepieces will be exhibited from 2 to 20 November at the Musée Rath, in collaboration with the Musée d'art et d'histoire (MAH).

The presentation of the six competing timepieces in the new "Mechanical watch" category will create an original dialogue with a corresponding number of historic works exceptionally selected from the watchmaking collections of the marketing authorization holder and the Musée international d'horlogerie of La Chaux-de -Fondi (MIH). The public will also be able to participate in free guided tours and introductory watchmaking workshops (details and reservations: inscription@gphg.org).

And here are the 14 categories in which the chosen watches will compete: Ladies ', Ladies' Complication, Men's, Men's Complication, Iconic, Tourbillon, Calendar and Astronomy, Mechanical Exception, Chronograph, Diver's, Jewelery, Artistic Crafts, “Petite Aiguille”, Challenge, Mechanical Clock.

The list of winners of the 2022 award will be announced on Thursday 10 November at the 22nd GPHG awards ceremony, which will be held at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva. After the ceremony, the winning watches of the 2022 edition will travel to Zurich at the end of November for a private presentation in collaboration with FGP Swiss & Alps, GPHG's main partner for the past three years. They will finally be exhibited for the first time in New York, from 1 to 4 December, in collaboration with Watches of Switzerland.
