On Friday 23 September, Roger Federer took the field for his last professional match. The former world number 1 said goodbye to tennis by sharing the court with his great friend and rival Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup.

It was a memorable evening, which will enter the history of tennis and not only marking the end of an extraordinary era. The 20-time Grand Slam champion couldn't hold back tears, moving many of his colleagues, including Nadal.

Roger and Rafa put on a show to the end in London's O2 Arena. The game, played against the American couple formed by Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe, was a condensation of emotions. Despite the pains in his knee, Roger showed for the umpteenth time, the whole class of him. The final result that saw the Americans triumph at the super tie-break for 4-6 7-6 11-9 matters little: the audience present and the spectators at home enjoyed the last two hours of glory of the absolute genius of modern tennis .

During the post-game and the emotional greeting that the elevetivo player paid in tears to the audience present, Roger Federer wore the new Rolex Air King 126900, presented this year during Watches & Wonders.

The new Air King was the first of its family to integrate the crown protectors into the Oyster case, with a redesigned middle case with a straight surface (and not rounded like its predecessor), more in line with the Rolex Professional watches.

The dial features an optimized Chromalight display with anti-reflective glass treatment for greater readability. The hands and triangular hour marker at 12 o'clock are filled or coated with a new luminescent material that provides a longer lasting intense glow. The numbers 3, 6 and 9, which were previously made entirely of 18 ct white gold, are now visible even in the dark thanks to this innovative material, exclusive to Rolex.

The new generation Air-King is equipped with caliber 3230, a movement which, thanks to the Chronergy escapement, is able to maintain a running precision of -2 / + 2 seconds per day. Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Air-King is Superlative Chronometer certified.

It is well known that Roger and Rolex are by now an indissoluble couple, the meeting between two legends whose relationship in all probability will continue for decades to come as happened for another Rolex Testimonial… Sir Jackie Stewart.

I consider Roger Federer to be the best Testimonial Rolex has ever found. So able, in all its naturalness, to embody elegance, intelligence and professionalism, as well as strength of character and determination on the tennis court. All traits that he shared and shares with Rolex, a brand that has built its success thanks to its sobriety and timelessness of its timepieces, their reliability and the pursuit of precision. Furthermore, they are both ambassadors of Swiss excellence brought to the highest levels.

We will miss seeing King Roger on the tennis courts, triumphant after winning a Grand Slam with his class, his elegance, his quality of play and his Rolex on his wrist.

Thanks ROGER!
