UNIMATIC introduces three new unique editions, Model One and Model Two and, for the first time, a GMT, declined in grade II titanium. The result is a perfect symbiosis between an avant-garde material and the modern lines of UNIMATIC watches.

Grade II titanium allows for better resistance to mechanical stress with a weight reduction of almost 45% when compared to stainless steel. But let's see these new UNIMATIC in detail.

UNIMATIC Model Uno Titanium GMT - ref. U1S-TGMT

Model Uno ref. U1S-TGMT

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for GMTs, hence the new one Model Uno U1S-TGMT immediately fascinated me. If the edition they made for Hodinkee was really well done, I find this U1S-TGMT even more captivating for the color palette used, in which the orange 'arrow' of the 24 hour hand stands out.

At the heart of this watch is the Switzerland ETA 2893 Top GMT Grado Elaborè visible through the visible sapphire caseback, and is equipped with a 42-hour power reserve. The U1S-TGMT is equipped with a matching Unimatic Made In Italy TPU rubber strap and a black leather strap both with sandblasted titanium buckles.

The simple and linear design ensures direct readability. White indexes and silver-colored minute track protrude from the matte black dial. Each marker, as well as the hands, are filled with C1 Superluminova. Although the GMT hand is skeletonized, it is able to glow in the dark as it has been immersed in Superluminova.

The case measures 40mm (41,5mm with the bezel) and benefits from the latest thickness upgrades to make it thinner, as per the model made in collaboration with AUTOMOBILI AMOS.

Il Model Uno ref. U1S-TGMT produced in a limited series of 100 pieces and has a list price of 1.950 EUR

Model One U1S-T-MP and the Model Two U2S-T-MP

The other two models in Unimatic's new titanium collection are the Model Uno U1S-T-MP and Model Two U2S-TMP. Both models are available with a blue dial and a Unimatic bezel nicknamed Midnight Blue.

The Model Uno is the diver that shares the case design of the Model Uno GMT, while the Model Two is the most compact Unimatic version of the brand's models with a 38mm case.

Both models come in a color that blends NIGHT BLUE with the gray tones of the sandblasted titanium case, with silver accents for graphics and finishes complemented by white markers in Super-LumiNova®BGW09 that glows in blue. Time is displayed thanks to matching “phantom” hands and reverse “lollypop” seconds hand with white luminescent tip in Super-LumiNova®BGW09.

The double domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal offers the best performance in all light conditions and together with the lightweight sandblasted titanium case, screwed caseback, 8mm diameter crown together with the high quality gasket set provide water resistance individually tested up to 30 atm = 300m = 1000ft.

Time accuracy is guaranteed by the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with 28.800 bph and a 38-hour power reserve. Both references come with a midnight blue TPU two-piece strap with UNIMATIC signature sandblasted titanium hardware and an extra midnight blue nylon strap. The caseback has an engraving with the individual progressive number.

As anticipated, the use of an advanced material such as grade II titanium allows for a weight reduction of almost 45% when compared to stainless steel. These qualities are reflected in the two references weighing less than 62g for the Model One and 58g for the Model Two, a notable difference from similar steel editions, providing more comfort for everyday use and a warm feel to the wrist due to the low thermal conductivity of the titanium alloy.

The Model One U1S-T-MP has a list price of EUR 1.180 and the Model Two U2S-T-MP has a list price of EUR 900; both are limited to 500 pieces.
