Is called MAD I GMT Milan Edition the new limited edition of 30 copies to celebrate not a simple collaboration between the Crow family di GMT e Maximilian Busser, creator and founder of MB&F, but a real friendship that has lasted for 30 years.
The relationship with Maximilian Busser begins in the growing years of Jaeger-LeCoultre where Maximilian, as product manager, planned with in the early 90s Giorgio and Michele Corvo, distributors for the Italian market, the future developments of the Manufacture. These are the years of Reverso and the return of diamond watches.
We are in 1998 and Maximilian moves to the direction of the watch sector of Harry Winston, famous world famous jeweler.
He maintains contact with Corvo and as soon as the latter interrupts his relationship with Jaeger-LeCoultre (2003), with great enthusiasm, he asks Michael Crow to distribute Harry Winston watches on the Italian market. It won't be easy, the challenge is considerable.
Maximilian Büsser's idea of transforming a purely feminine brand, through the "complicated" collection opus, developed with the help of talented Masters of the time (FP Journe, A. Preziuso, C. Claret, V. Halter, F. Baumgartner of Urwerk), is absolutely successful and allows the success of the American brand also in Europe.
In 2005 he founded MB&F, with the idea of developing a collection of complicated watches with new “Friends” and, once again, he relies on Corvo to represent him in Italy.
At the same time, Corvo sensed that it was time to open a boutique to promote independent Haute Horlogerie: thus was born GMT – Great Masters of Time.
After this brief story about one of the most interesting realities in the world of watchmaking retail, the forerunner of many recently born concepts, it is however time to tell you about this new creation.
MAD I GMT Milan Edition
Il MAD I GMT Milan Edition it is a watch with automatic movement and visible tungsten and titanium oscillating weight, dial side. Time reading is possible via two cylindrical aluminum discs on the side of the 42mm diameter case. The 4N golden finishes recall the first special series produced by other manufacturers for the Corvo family and the strap is in the classic Milano green.
The production is of 30 specimens, like the years of this long union. The rotor, the real gem, is formed by a triple Space halberd as usual in MB&F watches, and its continuous turning could cause hypnosis and frenzy.
The series MAD I remind you that she is Maximilian's daughter therefore, as with all his watches, the risk of trying it is directly proportional to the risk of buying it. I still remember the raffle for the BUT SAY where unfortunately I stayed at dry mouth but I trust in the future to bring to my collection what I consider the best concept watch of 2022 for a medium/low price range (MAD I RED, 2,900chf).
