Today, 70 years after the release of the first Fifty Fathoms and 20 years after the launch of the contemporary anniversary edition, Blancpain ushers in a year of celebrations with a new model exclusive.

To kick off the year celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms, the birth of which defined the standards of diver's watches, the Manufacture is launching an unprecedented timepiece… Once again there are three series, this time produced in 70 specimens each. Each series is dedicated to a region of the world – EMEA, Asia-Pacific, the Americas – and bears a number from I to III on the dial. The watch case, surmounted by the famous unidirectional bezel with domed sapphire crystal insert, is in polished steel with a diameter of 42 mm, a size that immediately takes us back to the first Fifty Fathoms of the 1953.

The heart that beats under the black dial sun is the now proven caliber 1315, automatic movement of note robustness, with power reserve of 5 days.

The oscillating weight of this anniversary edition, which bears the «Fifty Fathoms 70th» logo, is in Platinum, a material chosen for its symbolism. Synonymous with eternity, which is associated, in Swiss wedding customs, with the number 70. Additional dedication to the first Fifty Fathoms, it is provided with an opening, a trick applied since the 50s to thin the rotor and improve its resistance to bumps.

Last detail? The supplied strap is a Born YTT+ coming from the recycling of fishing nets recovered at sea or in the ocean.

A sustainable initiative, which will soon be extended to all Blancpain NATO straps.

The three series of 70 watches, dedicated respectively to the EMEA, Asia-Pacific and Americas zones, will be available exclusively for pre-order on the Blancpain website from January 2023
