Watches and Wonders opens its doors to the public and becomes In the City!

From 27 March to 2 April, the heart of Geneva will beat to the rhythm of clockwork. The Show will be open to the public for a weekend during which visitors will be able to discover the marvels unveiled by the 48 brands and manufacturers and immerse themselves in the world of exceptional watches.

For the first time this year Watches and Wonders will also develop “In the City”. Watch boutiques are already preparing for this highly anticipated event. Watches and Wonders invites Genevans and all visitors, both enthusiasts and newbies, to live an immersive experience in the heart of a Show conceived as a precious village, complete with squares, streets, restaurants and spaces dedicated to watchmaking. In total, there will be almost 50 Maisons and Manufactures exhibiting their marvels in Geneva.

The curtain on this important watchmaking event will rise on March 27th. The first days are reserved for operators in the sector, while the public is expected on 1st and 2nd April to experience a true immersion in time. More than a Show, it is an exciting experience to be enjoyed in person or online via the watchesandwonders.com platform. Watches and Wonders is also a place where you can hear and learn from the professionals.

A rich program is planned for the general public on 1 and 2 April: around six lectures and panels will be held every day in the Auditorium. Famous experts and speakers will be on hand to interpret watchmaking trends, explain what makes a watch valuable or how to start a collection of vintage models. Topical topics such as the metaverse, NFTs, blockchain and circularity will also be covered. Watches and Wonders is a moment dedicated to time. We talk about the past, through objects made in respect of a centuries-old tradition, about the present, with watches that revolutionize this art, and about the future, the subject of discussion in the LAB, a space dedicated to innovation and new technologies., The LAB it will be animated by some extraordinary projects by the exhibiting Maisons that seek to bring the future to the heart of watchmaking movements.

The Salone also holds a beautiful photographic exhibition «What time is it?» by Karine Bauzin, who questions us about our relationship with time and its perception. "What time is it?" is the question asked by the Swiss photojournalist to the people she met in 20 different countries. Their response is summed up in a gesture, the same one that is repeated all over the world and that was born with the invention of the wristwatch. The exhibition, which has an ethnographic character, is the result of ten years of work.

If the Show is the culmination of this appointment, the whole city of Geneva will vibrate for an entire week to the rhythm of watch movements: In the City.. The main watch brands in Rue du Rhône and Rues Basses will open their doors for unveil special creations, and grand complications during an expertly orchestrated rall. Each boutique of the participating brands has planned initiatives to welcome visitors and reveal their savoir-faire.

A special evening dedicated to watchmaking will be held on Thursday 30 March, from 17:00 to 21:00, in the Rues Basses. It's an opportunity to get involved in the wonderful world of watches, with musical encounters, street performances and famous artists. Conferences on "Geneva and watchmaking" will be organized at the Pont de la Machine, an information desk will also be active throughout the week in this space.
