This reworked automatic model takes up the bold aesthetic codes of theIngenieur SL, reference 1832, by Gérald Genta from the seventies, combining them with the strictest standards in terms of ergonomics, finish and technology.

THEIngenieur Automatic 40 it is powered by the in-house calibre 32111 IWG with 120 hours of power reserve. All new models are equipped with inner case in soft iron to protect the movements from magnetic fields and are waterproof up to to CE standards, making them extremely versatile sports watches fit for the XNUMXst century. The collection includes three references in steel and one in titanium.

The overall dimensions of the case have been carefully reworked and improved down to the smallest detail. The distance between the loops of 45,7 Millimeters guarantees perfect ergonomics and excellent comfort, even on the thinnest wrists. While the 40s Ingenieur SL had prominent lugs, the new Ingenieur Automatic XNUMX has a newly developed center link attachment. Aesthetically similar to the Ingenieur SL, this new solution improves ergonomics and offers even greater comfort on the wrist. The domed recess ring further improves the ergonomics of the case.

One of the most noticeable changes of the new model is the introduction of polygonal screws functional on the bezel. In the'Ingenieur SL, a bezel with five recesses was screwed onto the recess ring. As a result the recesses always had different positions on each watch. In the'Ingenieur Automatic 40, five screws secure the bezel to the case. The screws now have one technical function and, therefore, are always in the same position. The dial also has a particular structure “at Tapisserie” which creates balance with the design of the case, technical and very sculptural. It consists of lines offset 90 degrees from each other and is stamped onto the soft iron blank before it is electroplated. Finally, the elements applied with luminescent material give depth and ensure optimal readability even at night.
THEIngenieur Automatic 40 is available in three steel references:
- Ingenieur Automatic 40 Ref. IW328901: steel case, black dial, rhodium-plated hands and appliques, integrated steel bracelet with butterfly folding clasp
- Ingenieur Automatic 40 Ref. IW328902: steel case, silver dial, rhodium-plated hands and appliques, integrated steel bracelet with butterfly folding clasp
- Ingenieur Automatic 40 Ref. IW328903: steel case, Aqua dial, rhodium-plated hands and appliques, integrated steel bracelet with polished center links and butterfly folding clasp

IWC also presents a version of the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in titanium. Titanium is about a third lighter than steel. Other characteristics of this material are its delicacy on the skin and its hypoallergenic properties. However, this strong and durable metal is incredibly difficult to work with. The Ingenieur Automatic 40 with case and bracelet in grade 5 titanium exhibits a very accurate finish, with sandblasted, satin and glossy surfaces. The gray dial and black hands and applied elements further accentuate the characteristic matt gray appearance of the titanium.
