Cartier offers a new, even rarer and more precious version created around a cult union: that between platinum, a precious and difficult to work material, and ruby, a cabochon that adorns the winding crown. A choice of materials worthy of the occasion as the Maison celebrates, with this creation, one hundred years of the Tank Cintrée watch in platinum.

Les Rééditions by Cartier

Les Rééditions are born in 2021 with Pasha Calendrier Perpétuel and Tank Cintrée in yellow gold made in 150 examples on the occasion of its centenary, and are enriched in 2022 with the Pebble, of which they celebrate the fiftieth anniversary. They re-propose timepieces sought after by collectors in versions faithful to the original models. Fruit of the unique vision of Home, these creations represent milestones in Cartier's watchmaking history, whose emblematic forms and heritage are celebrated at the same time. An approach that materializes through aesthetic masterpieces offered in limited and numbered series with which the Maison chooses to delight and surprise its collector customers.

Today Home pays tribute to the Tank Cintrée, the first known evolution of the original Tank from 1917 launched in 1921, which introduced the rectangle into the universe of Tank shapes as the result of the search for a perfect balance between aesthetics and function.

Thanks to the curvature and thinness of its arched case, the watch elegantly marries the lines of the wrist. The even thinner case boasts one thickness reduced to just 6,03 mm and hosts a movement a manual charge, caliber 9780 MC, which is actually the ultra-flat Jaeger-LeCoultre 849. Movement measures only 1,85 mm thick, to adapt to the thin and curved case of the Cintrée. The only compromise is represented by power reserve relatively short of 36 hours.

Specific railway, Roman numbers, blued hands shaped apple, clock face “eggshell” and pin buckle: the watchmaking codes of the Maison that the timepiece displays affirm and confirm the belonging of this Tank Cintrée to the Cartier heritage.

A ruby is set in the cabochon crown, indicating that we are faced with a platinum case. This is a typical combination for anniversary watches and states that this version celebrates 100 years of the Tank Cintrée in platinum.
