You should know by now, "Phillips in collaboration with Bacs & Russo" has always tried to offer the best watches at auction, coming from the most important collections in the world. The next Geneva auction which will take place on 11 and 12 May 2024 will have one of these as its protagonist, we are talking about Guido Mondani's collection.

Guido Mondani, a leading figure in the world of watchmaking with a career spanning almost four decades, has decided to auction off over 40 wristwatches from his prestigious private collection. Founding a publishing house in 1992, Guido Mondani shared his vast knowledge and passion for watchmaking, becoming a true trendsetter in the field of vintage Rolex wristwatches. In 2006, part of his collection was auctioned with memorable results, even setting records for the time.

Now, Mondani prepares to return to the auction stage with Phillips, presenting an eclectic selection of watches that span his long history of collecting. The collection includes pieces from illustrious brands such as Cartier, Eberhard & Co., Longines, Patek Philippe and Rolex, each with a unique history that reflects his insatiable interest in exceptional timepieces.

Among the items for sale, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona – Ref. 6269 from 1985 – in 18k yellow gold stands out, a birthday gift for his wife during a holiday. Other notable pieces include two contemporary Rolex “sports,” purchased to celebrate the birth of his grandchildren, and a rare 18 1955k rose gold Rolex chronograph – Ref. 6036 “Jean-Claude Killy.” The latter was added to the collection after a request for advice from a friend.

The diverse selection also includes a 1938 Eberhard & Co. Rattrapante chronograph in 18k yellow gold, a piece acquired in 1988 from a former salesman of the same house, on their last day working together.

At 79, Mondani has made the decision to part with these precious timepieces, celebrating his extraordinary past and encouraging future generations of enthusiasts to create their own personal collections.

The Phillips auction promises to be an extraordinary event, offering collectors and watch lovers the opportunity to own a piece of Guido Mondani's unique history.
