On the occasion of the first auction of the season, Christie's is preparing to honor the legacy of Michael Schumacher, one of the most talented and successful drivers in the history of Formula 1, by offering selected watches from his private collection at the Rare Watches Live auction.

The auction will be held at Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva on May 13, 2024, an important date that coincides with the 30th anniversary of Schumacher's first Formula 1 World Championship victory in 1994, adding a layer of historical significance to the auction. The selection will boast two unique examples, gifts from the historic manager of Scuderia Ferrari Jean Todt: an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph and an F.P. Journe Vagabondage, both unique pieces created for Michael Schumacher.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph in white gold celebrates Schumacher's six World Championship victories with a bespoke dial featuring Ferrari's famous prancing horse, a number '1' surrounded by six stars and Schumacher's red racing helmet Schumacher together with the 'Prancing Horse' on the six o'clock counter.

Another noteworthy piece is the model F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1, a watch with a bespoke red dial decorated with symbols representing Schumacher's seven F1 World Championship victories by 2004, including his racing helmet and the Ferrari emblem.

Unlike the gold cases used in the examples sold at auction, this watch features a platinum case, giving it a unique character. But what makes it truly special is the dial: the “wandering hours” scale is in Ferrari red, compared to the dark gray of the other versions.

The scale is enriched by seven “V” emblems in honor of Mr. Schumacher's seven world championships, along with his helmet and the Scuderia Ferrari logo. No less significant is the dedication engraved on the movement bridge in 18k red gold which recalls Christmas 2004 and the friendship between Jean Todt and Michael Schumacher.

Remi Guillemin, Head of Watches for Europe and the United States at Christie's, expressed gratitude to the Schumacher Family for entrusting Christie's with these horological masterpieces, underlining the opportunity for passionate collectors around the world to own a piece of the legend's legacy.

The appointment is next May 13th, in Geneva, at 14 pm at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues .
